May's Happenings

May was filled with a lot fun and exciting moments for us. The biggest, most memorable moment was Travis' graduation. This has been a long anticipated time for us because we have been working toward this day since we were first married and it finally came! Travis happened to be the one in his class to lighten the mood on many different occasions. Tammy, one of Travis' instructors, had an argument with one of the students about purchasing books from the college's book store and the argument got pretty heated. During the most heated point of the argument Travis decided to play "Imperial March" (Darth Vader's Theme) aloud from his laptop. Luckily, his instructor had a good sense of humor and Travis continued to play this theme throughout the rest of the nursing program whenever the instructor had a test day! So...carrying on the tradition to lighten the mood Travis had a friend's mother paint a giant smiley face on the top of his head that was hidden with his graduation cap until he walked across the stage and bowed to his instructors and the rest of the audience. Needless to say, he made front page of our local newspaper! :)
They posted the colors at the ceremony which opened the flood gates. My grandfather was in the military and always made sure us kids carried a sense of pride for our country. He died from cancer when I was in high school, so whenever I get the opportunity to salute our flag I am reminded of him and his great service to our country. It was like having him there with us that day! :)
Travis' parents and Grandma Spencer drove up to spend the weekend with us! We couldn't have done it without them!!!
6 years of school to be a nurse drove our family crazy!! Okay, maybe we were already crazy?! :)
Travis and Craig became close buddies and pushed each other to the finish line!
Just a few of the others in his class...the others ditched out early!
Kelton, Brynlee, and I were lucky enough to pin Travis with his nursing pin at a ceremony the night before!
Our handsome Daddy!!
I originally made this cake for an auction my sis-in-law was having for the Cystic Fibrosis walk, but it never made it there. So I used it as a pre-celebration cake!
Brynlee also learned how to crawl in May. Kelton is such a proud big brother and loves helping her learn new things!!
